Dahab 2009 - 2010

! Cool

Dahab 2009 9th November to 16th November and for the lucky few another week through to the 23rd

Dahab had been in freefall for the last month or so, wind had totally deserted it, so it was with some trepidation that the group of ‘Brogadoons’ set forth on their annual pilgrimage to the Mecca resort.

There having been not a breath for five weeks there were some amongst us that doubted the guarantee that our Lake manager had promised (wind for 14 days)

But those doubting Thomas’s were soon reassured as the wind kicked in on the first day

DAY 1 force 5 Hoff forgets to take foot out of strap as it goes for carve gybe, I regret to inform you the Hoff breaks three toes, Dave Skye collides with boom and damages ribs slightly. (And who said there wasn’t going to be any wind, keep this up and few will be left standing by the end

Day 2 Force 3 The only day with little wind. Those fit enough go snortling ( with the exception of Pete and Ingrid who have of course been planing back and forth on Speedy since dawn) Others nurse their swollen toes!

Day 3 Force 4 Mr Rivett breaks boom and Major Disaster Eeyore 2 in the shape of Phil develops a cold.

Day 4  Force 6 Mike sails a 100 kms in one day, while Peter does a spot of boom diving (apparently a new Olympic sport)

Day 5  Force 5 Ingrid maintains she saw a Turtle, but as she hit a bottle, a buoy and a rope because she didn’t see them, I feel the turtle sighting a little dubious to say the least

Then Ben sees the Turtle (but he comes from Salcombe and I doubt he knows what one looks like)

The toeless Hoff is out on speedy with a camera strapped to his head!

Why? You ask

I have not the slightest idea.

Day 6 force 4

John has a difference of opinion with a sea Urchin

While Mike looses Ben’s head camera out in Kamakasi doing strange antics in the air

Day 7 Force 7 Bloody windy as the first weekers board their bus

For those of us left

Day 8 Force 6 lake manager finally sees a Turtle (all be it a small one. It’s only taken him 10 years)

Day 9  Force 5/6 Lake manager is seen impaled to board by way of harness hook

Day 10 Force 5

Day 11 Force 6 Frank now stand on Urchin (urchin is now both bald and pissed off)

Day 12 Force 5 Colin and Tony are seen battling it out on Speedy (not that they are competitive of course)

Day 13 Force 5

Day 14 Wind drops to 2/3 as we board the coach for home

What a fortnight, rumour has it the wind has gone again, was it luck or does Our Lake Manager have connections with a higher being?

Next year November 1st is the date
